Clam Anti Virus is an open source (GPL) anti-virus toolkit for UNIX, designed especially for e-mail scanning on mail gateways. It provides a number of utilities including a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner and advanced tool for automatic database updates. The core of the package is an anti-virus engine available in a form of shared library.
To scan your server space go to your cPanel account and login. Scroll down to the "Advance" Section and choose "Virus Scanner". You will have an option to scan 4 areas.
- Scan Mail
- Scan Entire Home Directory (suggested)
- Scan Public Web Space
- Scan Public FTP Space
If ClamAV finds an infected file it will quarantine it and give you the option to delete it. This is a very easy tool to use and we suggest using it about 1 a month. Please note if we find a infected file or get a report of a website sending out spam email from a hack we will suspend the account until the infected files have been removed.
